Binky snipping
We're trying to decide the best time to kick Lyla's binky habit. For almost a year she's only used them at bedtime and naptime, but we haven't been cruel overbearing parents in awhile and we think this might be the next cool way to mess with her emotional well-being.
She's also changing rooms at daycare when she turns two. In this new room there are toilets and children who ride bikes and pay their parents rent. We don't know if there are binkies. Binky is probably a swear word, resulting in corner time or a stint in the kitchen peeling potatoes.
So we're thinking of doing what our friends did: gradually snip off the suck part of the binky over a four-day span. Their young man concluded this: "Binky boken!" He hasn't asked about them since.
I guess one concern is that we'll create a thumb sucker and then need to Tabasco her thumbs.

or you could talk about how when the baby comes he will need lots of binkies. then you can talk about it every now and again until the baby comes, then she will happily give them over. that's what they did on super nanny kinda.
ReplyDeleteps. i missed seeing you guys when you got home because i did not get to tell you my lyla stories! did you get my email at least? and did you know she knows L is for Lyla and M is for Mama? (i think? either that or she somehow just memorized the pages in this one book i have but i don't think so) There's a page for every letter and things on the page that go with it and I turned to the L/M pages and she pointed at the L page and was all, "Lyla!" and pointed at the next page and was all "Mama!" I was like o_O holy moly lol. And later she had ABC flashcards and I asked her if she wanted to tell Grandpa the ABCs (cuz they were over) and she was like "Yeah." *pulls out the first one* "A apple" We were like o_O holy moly lol. Also if she ever mentions "Bahby eee vee" it might mean she's telling you we watched Barney on tv. But probably not, cuz I would obviously never allow that.
