Oscar results and the forgotten daughter

I hate it when I forget to take a photo of Lyla while she's awake. Julie and I were downstairs a couple minutes ago after hearing the ominous plunks of two binkies (out of three) when I realized it. So I trotted upstairs to snap a picture, restock the binky backups, all without waking the beast.

I found her like this:


And then she flipped like a pancake, as though below her was a very gentle, invisible spatula.


Success.

I have Oscars on the brain. Here are the nominees and the results of my predictions.

Best Picture - I was 8/10, missing A Serious Man and District 9. I'm satisfied, especially since I picked dark horse The Blind Side correctly.

Best Actor - I was 5/5 in this category, easily the most predictable of the bunch.

Supporting Actress - I was only 3/5, missing Penelope Cruz and Maggie Gyllenhaal. Boo for me.

Anna Kendrick - Up in the Air
Mo'Nique - Precious

Supporting Actor - I was 4/5 and missed Christopher Plummer.

Director - I was 5/5.

James Cameron - Avatar

All in all, I picked 29 of 35 nominations correctly in the top six categories. So it's a typical year. I am such a dork. Julie's comment: "Oh Dan, this is pathetic."
