Stalactites



Now if only she'd learn to wipe her own nose.

Did you ever play the game Operation with the tweezers and the buzzing red nose? There were the easy pieces like the bread basket and the impossible ones like that stupid stick in the arm. And there were the doctor cards and specialist cards that had no discernible purpose.

I never realized how well that game would prepare me to extract boogers from a toddler. You sneak up behind her with your fingers or tweezers or tissue, reach around her silently, and you have one chance to snag them as they dangle from the nostril ceiling like stalactites.

If you miss, you lose your turn.
