Ah Ah Ah Ah

My new way to say "No" has become "Ah ah ah ah." Lately when Lyla commits a no-no, she finds a way to make it feel new and exciting. For instance, instead of opening the no-no cupboard, she'll go straight for the garbage can. I'll look over and discover her elbow-deep, and in my haste to intervene, all that comes out is "Ah ah ah ah."

This evening Lyla was having cereal for dessert when she decided that throwing a handful onto the floor would accomplish her short-term goals. It happened so fast that when I said "Ah ah ah ah," all it really did was alert the dogs.

Then Lyla used the phrase "Ah ah ah ah" to request more cereal, so I felt totally ineffective.

In other news, a fine young cannibal at daycare bit Lyla today.

The incident report reads as follows: "Lyla was sitting next to a friend on the bench when the child bit her forearm." The most disturbing part is that the teacher doesn't know the difference between a forearm and an upper arm. Anyway, the bite didn't break the skin, and so far Lyla shows no signs of being a vampire or a werewolf. Still, I'm pretty sure she screamed "AH AH AH AH" when it happened.
