To feel normal and okay
In this picture, Lyla is demanding to go to bed. She does this when she's very tired. She'll be crying about something inconsequential, such as gravity interfering with her spoon, and either Julie or I will say "Lyla, is it nigh-night time?"
In most cases, as in the case above, she runs to the gate while whimpering desperately, "Nigh-night!"
This evening it happened at 6:15.
It's this transition to the toddler room. You know when you start a new job, or a new school, and it's absolutely exhausting at first? You don't know the rules, the culture, or even when lunch is. You spend all kinds of energy just to feel normal and okay.
And so sometimes you need to go to bed before Wheel of Fortune comes on.

6:15? Wow! Early for Lyla, late for Anja!
ReplyDeleteHow is the transition going otherwise? Has she started doing sudoku yet?
Oh, that is so cute - she looks so grown up in that photo!
ReplyDeleteI need to take some cues from Lyla and go "night night" at 6pm too...sounds like a very good plan.
