Sip it good

Lyla's at about the age when the bottle could become a comfort item if we're not careful. The longer we delay kicking her bottle addiction, the harder it will get. Is there a baby bottle rehab facility? And do babies there, like Amy Winehouse, say "No, no, no"?

The most hard core teacher at daycare says that when Lyla realizes that bottles are no longer available, she'll suddenly embrace the sippy cup. Currently we're down to the one bottle at bedtime. The issue is that she's rejected so much sippy cup milk today that at bedtime she chugged that bottle like it was buck-a-beer night at the bowling alley.

We mix a little strawberry milk in the sippy cup, and it helps. Maybe it's also time to massacre the bottle nipples, a cruel trick to make bottle drinking unpleasant. Snip 'em up, you know? Give the poor kid nipple nightmares. Or another trick I've heard is to only give them bottles with water in them. Ha ha, sucker! That tastes like nothing! Oh, you're crying? Want some frothy milky goodness with a hint of strawberry? Oh, you want the sippy cup now? Yeah, that's what I thought.

Now that's tough love.
